Indian Passport Rules have become so sorted! This is the best time to have one

As the Ministry of External Affairs in India sets up new rules to streamline the passport process, we are left happy for the fact that our country is walking towards a better and progressive set up, leaving age-old prejudices behind. As the govt claims, the purpose is to "streamline, liberalize and ease the process of issue of passport, in response to the cumbersome and stringent documentation process that was used earlier. So ultimately, you will be left with a number of choices of documents to claim for your passport as an Indian citizen. Here are some of the areas that have been reworked upon in the new rule guideline.

You dont need to submit a birth certificate as a proof of date of birth (DOB) even if you are born after January 26, 1989. Earlier, people who were born after this date were supposed to submit their birth certificates as the proof of Date of Birth (DOB). In lieu of this, you can submit these certificates:

a.You can submit Birth certificates issued by the Municipal Corporation that governs the process of registering the births and deaths of everyone in the country.
b.Aadhar Card
c.A valid Driving license issued by the transport Department
d.PAN card issued by the IT department
e.Policy bonds issued by the LIC or any other recognized insurance company.
f.Election ID
g.Pay Pension Order of retired govt. servants and a copy of service record for govt servants, duly attested by the Administration in charge.
h.School leaving certificate/ matriculation certificate/ transfer certificate issued by any registered and recognized educational institute. This certificate should mention the DOB of the applicant.
Now comes the issue of sections who had to earlier suffer due to some social imperatives. The MEA took a milestone step by holding a joint decision with Ministry of Women and Child Development to ease out certain legalities which can be considered as patriarchal in nature. These changes are:

1.For single parents: The new provision allows you to opt for either father or mother or legal guardians name to be mentioned in your passport. This comes as a great relief for single parents to apply for the passports of their children.
2.Just Self Declare: Which means that from now onwards you dont need to get your annexes certified by any Notary/Executive Magistrate/First Class Judicial Magistrate. This relieves you from so much of paperwork and hassles.
3.No Marriage Certificate Needed: That the married couples are now relieved of providing Annexure K or any marriage certificate. You just need to declare on a plain paper.
4.No need for spouses name for certain categories: People who are divorced or separated, are now allowed to choose whether to have spouses name in their passport or not. You dont even need to provide the Divorce Decree.
5.Less Annexes: A number of Annexes have been either merged or removed such as Annexes A, C, D, E, J, and K.
6.For Orphaned children who do not carry any DOB certificate or the Matriculation Certificate or the declaratory Court order, can now just submit a declaration given by the Head of the Orphanage/Child Care Home on their official letterhead of the organization stating and confirming the DOB of the applicant.
7. For children who are born out of wedlock: They just need to submit Annexure G along with passport application.
8.For Indian people who have adopted children from India only: They no longer need to submit registered adoption deed. And if there is no deed, then you just need to give a declaration on a plain paper confirming the adoption.
9.Government servants, who are not able to obtain the Identity Certificate (Annexure-B)/ No-Objection Certificate (Annexure-M) from their concerned employer and intend to get the passport on urgent basis can now get the passport by submitting a self-declaration in Annexure-N that he/she has given prior Intimation letter to his/her employer informing that he/she was applying for an ordinary passport to a Passport Issuing Authority.
10.Sadhus/ Sanyasis can apply for a passport with the name of their spiritual Guru mentioned in the passport application in lieu of their biological parent(s) name(s) subject to their providing of at least one public document such as Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission of India, PAN card, Adhar Card, etc wherein the name of the Guru has been recorded against the column(s) for parent(s) name(s).

As these rules change and become more relaxed, we cant help ourselves ruminating over the ever evolving nature of our societies as well as ideologies.

The backwaters are especially noteworthy given their bait that has international travelers imploring them! If I could, I would say Alleppey or Alappuzha is perhaps the reason why the state earns its reputation as something so beautiful and pure as "Gods own country". Quaint houseboat cruises, coconut trees, the Laccadive Sea, pleasingly welcoming locals, some serious lip-smacking food and a dose of quirky activities like surfing, yoga, and boat races among more, puts Alleppey on the 'must visit places in Kerala' list. And rejuvenation in Kerala can be another story altogether, what with its blissful Ayurvedic massages, tranquil lagoons, and temples, that promise the ultimate solitude.

If you think all this comes at a cost that is not very reasonable. Hold on friend, we bring to you 15 best places to stay in Alleppey that are an absolute bargain! The Beauty of Khajuraho Temples and its Grand Dance Festival

Madhya Pradesh - The heart of India is undoubtedly a treasure trove of historical, cultural and religious emblems that have borne the brunt of thousands of years of invasions, plundering, storms, floods and other merciless tormentors both natural and man-made. One such spectacular place in Madhya Pradesh that showcases the very zenith of local ingenuity and rich taste in craftsmanship is the temple town of Khajuraho.
When one talks about classic Indian workmanship, Khajuraho is a name that usually comes out at the tip of the tongue. The temples have long been renowned world over for their fantastical architecture, erotica and exquisite sculptures. Let us now take a detailed look into what made Khajuraho one of the Seven Wonders of India and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Glimpse Into The Past!

Construction of the temples goes back in time to 950 - 1050 AD under the rule of the Chandela Dynasty. According to legends, thousands of years ago, there was a royal priest of Kashi who had a beautiful daughter. Once while bathing on a full moon night in a pond full of lotuses, the moon god sighted her and was so captivated by her beauty that he instantly fell in love with her. From their union, a son was born, who was raised in the forests of Khajuraho as per the wishes of the moon god.
The son grew up to be a king, founded the Chandela dynasty and built a temple in the forest. As the Chandela lineage prospered, more and more temples were added to the existing ones. With the increase in the number of invaders and the fall of the Chandela Dynasty, the temples were pillaged, some were destroyed and with the passage of time, all of them were reclaimed by the forests of Khajuraho, until their re-discovery in the early 19th Century. There are a number of variations to this story and no one can exactly point a finger on the one that is most accurate.

The Name Says It All!

The name Khajuraho literally translates into Date Palm Bearing. This also has two stories behind it one says that the whole area was covered by a date palm tree forest and thus the name, while according to the second one the rulers built a wall around the temple complex. At each gate on the wall, there were two golden date palm trees giving a grander look to the entrance of the temples. Though no one knows for sure which story is authentic, what is for sure is that the name stuck on and became synonymous with these Hindu and Jain temples.

Its More Than Just Kamasutra!

Yup! Sorry to burst your bubble, but contrary to popular belief the Khajuraho temples arent all about intertwined couples, erotic sculptures and gymnasts in action (pun intended)! All those hardly account for only 10 percent of the total sculptures in Khajuraho! In fact, instead of glorifying or over stressing on sex, it is on the other hand shown as a very normal part of life. The sculptures depict everyday life and the importance of sexual practices in a normal household. And no, cosmic deities are not shown indulging in it, but simply normal human beings showing their very humane desires and expressions in typical Kamasutric manner.

So What Exactly Is It?

Khajurhao temples are Hindu and Jain Temples, mostly made of sandstone, planned and constructed very carefully according to the ancient Hindu architectural design of Vastu-purusha-mandala. Though a number of temples existed back in time only 20 have withstood the turmoil of the time. Out of the ones that are still standing a few are dedicated to Lord Shiva & his consorts, Vishnu & his avatars, Ganesha, the Sun God and some to Jain Tirthankars.
The splendid sculptures in the temples portray scenes from the everyday life of men and women of those ages busy in their usual practices and daily chores. Such is the precision and skills of the workers that the sculptures are bound to leave first-time visitors speechless with disbelief and awe!

Khajurao - Now!

Currently, the temple complex is divided into 3 different regions, namely the Eastern, Western and the Southern sides. The most astounding of these surviving temples which will probably spellbind you with their majestic carvings and scintillating architecture are the Lakshmana Temple, Devi Jagadamba Temple, Chitragupta Temple, Kandariya Mahadeva Temple, Parsvanath Temple, Brahma Temple and Chaunsat Yogini.
MP Tourism and ASI have included the options of availing audio guides for some of the temples while others can be seen with the help of an actual guide. Also, not to be missed out on is the Light and Sound show which takes place every evening. It takes place on the Western side of the complex and colorful lights and lasers are strewn all over the complex. A detailed and entertaining narration in both English and Hindi keeps the visitors intrigued and glued to the performance for a solid hour.

What Khajuraho Holds For Us?

Khajuraho is one of the greatest accomplishments of the Indian civilization in its long and glorious history. The sculptures give a glimpse into the life, culture and society make-up of the people of the past. It shows us how society functioned freely, how all ideas were openly accepted & debated and especially how sexuality was unbridled and not a topic of taboo.
The contents of the Khajuraho temple complex shouldnt be merely labeled as Erotica but should be the basis of motivating us as a society to break all boundaries, daring to think outside the box and feel free to express our passions and desires. A visit to Khajuraho is the eye opener that we all require, it is a gift from our ancestors to us, and we should cherish and treat it like one.

Khajuraho Dance Festival!

The Khajuraho Dance Festival is a major weeklong dancing extravaganza that is held each year in February and gives everyone a chance to gaze and admire at the various classical dance forms from various regions of India. The icing on the cake is that all of these graceful performances are featured in the backdrop of majestically lit Khajuraho temples! Numerous artists and performers of International fame are regularly featured here and they pay tribute to the gods and celestial beings of Hinduism, who used to be wonderful performers themselves.

In the course of its splendid history, Khajuraho Dance Festival has seen famous personalities giving a glimpse of their surreal talent to a crowd of bewitched onlookers. Few of the most popular names that have graced the festival are Madhumita Roy, Madhuri Majumdar, Methil Devika, Madhu Natraj, Danial Freddy, Sukant Kumar Acharya, Rajendra Gagani, Anita Guha, Ranjana Gauhar and many-many more! The list is endless! Dance forms like Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Saraikela and Mohiniattam tantalize the viewers and make them feel as if they were watching a divine performance in the court of Lord Indra himself!
This is one treat that you cant even dream of missing out on!

The prices of these products vary from location to location so you might want to visit a few stores before deciding on one!

When youre out shopping, remember that there are a number of stores that will be willing to haggle on the product prices. Dont make hasty decisions and take your time to find the best of deals. And if youre buying an electronic device, make sure it is compatible with your devices and offerings in your country.

Happy shopping!

Wow! Our own Kerala is 8th on ABTA’s '12 Destinations to Watch in 2017' list

You dont need a magical art to define the beauty of Kerala. Just put together some of the most beautiful words that describe nature from your dictionary or Thesaurus and you will find a picture-perfect image of Kerala before your eyes. This "Gods Own Country finds several eulogies in Indian tourism, however, its international appeal is equally overwhelming as well as seductive. Time to add one more laurel to this landscape dotted with palm fringed beaches. Kerala has been termed as one of the 12 Destinations to Watch For this year in 2017 by ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) in response of its extraordinary allure and a pampering welcoming culture.

Kerala sits on no 8th position, proudly leaving behind well-known destinations like South Africa, Vietnam, Sardinia and even the US. It is the only state here that puts India on the world map tourism, bringing accolades and delight for us. Although you would agree that we dont need any trophies to attest the beauty of Kerala, this recognition is still something to be cherished and to be joyous of. The very fact that UKs biggest and most authoritative travel agents and tourism body recognizes this fact, makes us fall in love with pristine land all over again.
The other proud owners of top positions in this list are Andalucia in Spain, The Azores, Bermuda, Chile, County Kerry, Croatia, and Denmark.

According to the report, what makes Kerala a strong and contending entry in the list is that it offers a "multitude of experiences for holidaymakers, owing to its diverse landscape and hidden corners. Thus, as you visit Kerala, you are bewitched with its surreal backwaters, dense forests, a roaring wildlife and dreamy hill stations.

However, there is more to this state than just the natural beauty that meets the eye. You can write dossiers on Keralas rich cultural setup and its culinary spread. To add more to thelist is Ayurveda rejuvenation therapies that seal its allure for the travelers.

While a number of other Indian states might be equally or even more picturesque than Kerala, there are reasons as to why this state finds a mention in the International world of tourism. The state is definitely safe to visit in comparison to others and further, it cherishes a warmth of hospitality that welcomes travelers from all over the world. Imagine a spread of Banana leaf with delicacies served graciously to you or those traditional dances welcoming you with wreaths of flowers and "tilak on your forehead.

Thus, what we should gather out of it is that we need to create India a haven for tourism, by maneuvering to make its safe for all, warm and even more welcoming than what it is. This is how our regions can become internationally well known. This will not only boost our economy but will also put Indias culture on the world map. After all, dont we believe in "Athithi Devo Bhava?

Carve a dream for yourself by booking a Houseboat in Keralas shimmering backwaters, or walk down its dense spice plantations and paddy fields to see nature in its most majestic yet humble form.

Epic Retreats - Hotels Here Vanish After Guests Depart

$

0

This 2017 glamarous camping cabins will emerge in Wales and vanish once the guests have left the place. They are a part of Wales Tourism programme, "Year of Legends". They are just 8 in number and only 200 lucky people will be able to enjoy this exotic experience. These eight different hotels or cabins were designed by architects across the globe and the theme was to reflect the spirit of Wales. Each cabin is different from the other and designed clearly for the pop-up hotel.

One of the cabins are designed mirroring a traditional Welsh woman's hat. There are 2 levels and on the second level i.e in that 'hat' sits a king-sized bed and the its a perfect setting for stargazing.

One of the cabins are designed perfectly around sky as Wales has one of the best "International Dark Sky" areas in the World. For adventurerers and dreamers, the roof of this cabin will open and those who want to sleep under the stars will have a wonderful view of our galaxy.

A cabin is dedicated to trademark material slate and 2 cabins that reflect the Welsh dragon. A perfect place for staycation!

The pop-up hotel will appear in three different locations throughout the year. The exact locations will be unfolded sooner than later, guess one by the mountains, by the sea and maybe a Welsh heritage site.

Epic retreats  will aprroximately take 200 bookings only through this year. Of course prior booking is needed. The bookings will be made available for public soon.
